After exploring all of the works, it can be concluded that social inequality has been plaguing humanity since the beginning of time. The pieces of work explored were from various time periods, but social inequality never become archaic as it continues to be part of human experience. First of all, I am Malala depicts gender inequality which is a current social issue in Pakistan after the dominance of the Taliban. In addition, “The Yellow Wallpaper” explores the inequality that women faced in patriarchal America during the time period prior to the 20th century. Even through the passage of time, it is clear that gender inequality continues to be part of society in different parts of the world. Moreover, racial inequity was part of American society prior to the 20th century when African Americans were discriminated and viewed as inferior to white men as can be seen in Langston Hugh's “I , Too, Sing America.” During Van Gogh's time, economic inequality was a part of society due to the broad gap between the rich and poor which is depicted in The Potato Eaters with the painting of the pitiable life that typical peasants led. In the same way, racial inequality is explored in the song, "Blackbird" which depicts the need for African Ameicans to step up against inequality during the Civil Rights Movement. Therefore, social inequality has been a lasting element of human history which has been able to outlive the limitations of time. In fact, social inequality has certainly become part of human existence. Although social inequality may not be openly expressed as a dilemma of mankind, it continues to be present in one form or another around the globe.
Moreover, each piece was interrelated in the aspect that they portrayed social inequality as a result of the misconception that one sector of society is more powerful than another. In the case of I am Malala, the Taliban automatically assumed that they were greater than the rest of the inhabitants in Pakistan. This faulty idea was what caused girls like Malala to be denied their basic rights to education which ultimately led to hardship and struggle. Similarly, “The Yellow Wallpaper” delineated the treatment of women as inferior which was the direct outcome of the prevalent notion among men that they were supposedly the superior gender. In “I, Too, Sing America”and "Blackbird", the concept of racial discrimination against those of African descent mainly stemmed from the idea of white supremacy. Similarly, the impression that the affluent were more skilled and talented than the destitute contributed to the existence of economic inequality which was especially seen in Europe during the times of peasants. After inspecting various works, it is apparent that social inequality is the result of assumptions of dominance and authority. Furthermore, this may account for the fact that social inequality has been a lasting element of human culture. Psychologically, humans tend to have the mindset of viewing the social system as a stratification in which one individual or group is viewed as comparatively more dominant on the basis of gender, ethnicity, economic class, age, etc.
